When we think of air conditioning, we typically think of air handling units and air conditioners. Radiant cooling, on the other hand, is delivered by circulating cooled water through specialized panels or the construction materials in the floor or ceiling.

While radiant cooling can be delivered through floor or ceiling, it is usually more efficient to install the cooling systems in the ceiling. This is because it is easier to leave ceilings bare than floors. Greater convective heat exchange can occur as the cold air descends from the ceiling into the room below. On the other hand, if there’s heavy sun penetration, cooling through the floor becomes more efficient.
